2023: A Year of Change

What does 2023 hold for you?

(S hemisphere below)

There is a contracted consolidation that naturally follows the expansive season of festivities. With the hustle and the bustle of the holidays behind us… the in-breath we draw at the start of the year gives us a pause around which to center our intentions for the New Year.

We begin 2023 with Mercury retrograde in Capricorn conjunct Venus & Pluto. This is a slow gestation that asks us to be in no rush entering this New Year. We are continuing a journey that began in 2020, overseen by the conjunction of Saturn in Pluto in Cap. The subsequent dismantling of the previous world continues as we know we cannot return to the old world, instead we must continue to forge a new one.

The year is born under a Taurus Moon with Uranus and the North Node. The already simmering issue of food shortages is approaching a boil. It will come to the US last, but it will get here too. Already there are egg shortages (engineered just like the rest of the food crises). The question always is, how will we adapt to these changing conditions? The Mercury rx, Venus, Pluto conjunction says that we need to get down to brass tacks and initiate a system that will allow us increasing levels of local and regional self-sufficiency. There are a lot of things at play right now that indicate that the era of globalism is drawing to a close. What do you need to procure this month to be able to grow at least some food? From some pots on your Sunny windowsill to raised backyard beds with a chicken coop, please do something.

As the US has its second exact Pluto return contact right now, the writing is on the wall. The US will continue to go through a complete death & rebirth that won’t complete until late 2024.

Pluto will spend 3 month in Aquarius this year, indicating that it’s time to really start thinking outside of the box.

Food, pet food, medicine, seeds, garden tools, fertilizer, gloves, hats, shoes, work clothes. Stock up now. You can thank me later.

————————-

Monday January 2

Moon in Taurus square Saturn trine Mercury Venus Pluto. Mars in Gemini rx has (finally) reached his station direct degree as of yesterday. If you have anything around 8° of the mutables, especially Gemini, you will feel this. “This” being Mars energy beaming down extra strong. Take lots of deep breaths over the next 10 days until it regains prograde motion. Venus enters Aquarius this evening on the west coast, shifting our love and pleasure desires and tastes to the eccentric and strange.

Tuesday January 3

The Gemini Moon joins Mars, who we know is feeling rather grumpy and prickly, so watch out for that sort of thing in yourself, and in others. Jupiter in Aries makes an opposition to Ceres, expanding our awareness around food and nourishment, as a way to highlight the importance of stocking up on all manner of food for you and your pets.

Wednesday January 4

We are stabilized until our thinking today as the Gemini Moon trines Saturn. Making plans is very natural at the start of the year, so use today to do some thinking through your business plans and what changes you want to make for maximum stability and prosperity.

Thursday January 5

The mood shifts to emotional as the Cancer Moon t-squares Jupiter and Ceres, (who is Demeter the mother of Persephone.) This brings the focus to food and sustenance. At the risk of redundancy, I will remind you that the world is shaping up into global famine and I really encourage you to act now to fortify your food back stock. These actions will fortify your feelings of safety and security, the goal of all Cancer Moons.

Friday January 6

Full Moon at 16° Cancer features feelings about food, family, and home as the Sun in Cap trine Uranus and Rahu in Taurus. What do you know… more emphasis on food security! I’m not going to stop talking about this because it’s pretty much the most important thing going into this year. Hyperinflation, increasing substitutions and supply chain disruptions are going to become more and more of the norm. If you have savings, consider that long term storable food and supplies may become more valuable than the currency you use now to buy them. What do you know about bartering systems? Where can you learn more? This is the direction we are heading.

Saturday January 7

We are coming down off the Full Moon high today with the Cancer Moon opposite Pluto, the most sensitive and potentially reactive day of the month. Notice what comes up for you today and be gentle with yourself. This is a good day to lay low and buffer yourself from the world news.

Sunday January 8

Today we feature a conversation between the heart and the head as the Leo Moon opposite Venus in Aquarius squares the Nodal Axis. Notice if you are living in one side or the other and make some effort into linking them together inside of yourself. Both inputs are essential but one can drown the other out.

Mercury in Cap Rx trine Uranus pushes us into doing some thinning about where we give in to authority in ways that keep us small. Inhale your own authority today and make your own big decisions instead of giving your power away to others.

The late Taurus Moon makes a trine to Mercury rx, Venus and Pluto assisting us in thinking about our relationships to food, resources and people, and where they need to grow. Lean in!
