A New Moon & Mars into Leo 🦁

(You can find S hemisphere at bottom of page) All week we are moving into a dramatic fixed t-square with Jupiter, Mars, & Pluto that perfects as Jupiter enters Taurus on the 16th and Mars enters Leo on the 20th. This is a clash of the intense and uncompromising Titans, heralding this new age of Pluto in Aquarius. Head, heart & body must all work together for us to move forward into a better future than the one that appears to be just around the bend. The New Moon on the 19th is at the end of Taurus giving us a chance to reboot ourselves around our relationship to our body. Coming after a rather arduous mercury retrograde in Taurus, this is the chance to put what you’ve learned over the last month into play. Get into your “critter perspective” and make some decisions from your body wisdom. Monday May 15 Mercury is freshly direct and we move forward now under a Dark Aries Moon square Venus in Cancer at 8°. It’s a bit of a gothic vibe so if you’re feeling any stress today put on some intense music like Dead Can Dance to tap the Astro mood of the day. Tuesday May 16 At last Jupiter enters Taurus today. All things Venusian such as love, money, art & beauty take center stage for the next year. Jupe immediately makes a square to Pluto creating tension between the body and the mind. Check in with yourself to see if you feel a split between those parts of self, and if so begin to find some common ground between them. As the Aries Moon crosses Chiron, and later squares Mars in late Cancer we are fired up but protective of our wounds. “We need beauty because it makes us ache to be worthy of it.” – Mary Oliver Wednesday May 17 The Moon into Taurus anoints freshly crowned Jupiter in the sign of Venus and then brings the energy to Mercury & the North Node. This is a languid combo that is potentized by the square with Pluto rx at 0° Aquarius. There can be some push pull around touch and affection as the Taurus planets show a big need for touch while Pluto in Aquarius influence is a profound detachment from the physical. We’re going to have some time to work on versions of this square over the next twenty years so this is just an introduction. Thursday May 18 It’s quite a domestic sort of day as the Taurus Moon enjoys a sextile with Venus in Cancer on her way to a conjunction with Uranus. Once she arrives to Uranus the lassitude falls away and we are galvanized into some sort of action or perhaps reaction. Friday May 19 We have our New Moon 28° Taurus at 8:53 am pacific time, conjunct Fixed star Algol which can mean victory over others in war. We are in an undeclared war on food and farming, evidenced by the many mysterious fires at food processing plants since 2019, and the attempt to take away farmers’ land in the Netherlands by declaring war on nitrogen. This is a war that we need to win so we’ll take the auspices of this Moon to mean that we are protected by the divine. But I will not miss this opportunity to once again encourage you to grow some food in your garden. Mars is having his last day in Cancer, preparing to shift from deeply emotional water into radiant active fire, so we might be feeling a bit of the blues mixed in with the morning lunar reboot. It’s a day where we might want to “eat our feelings”. If so then make it a healthy meal. Saturday May 20 We have a big vibe shift as the Moon in Gemini squares Saturn, & Mars in Leo who makes his first opposition to Pluto in Aquarius. This opposition is about power, and who holds it. Mars in Leo us bright and brash and showy but coming from the heart. Pluto in Aquarius has a terminator vibe, so this aspect reminds us that the best way to not get swallowed by the inevitable insertion of AI into all parts of life moving forward is to stay connected to your heart. That’s the antidote and then way too keep yourself power in the face of the abstract monolithic power over institutions that are working hard on the AI takeover. “You must not ever stop being whimsical. And you must not, ever, give anyone else the responsibility for your life.” - Mary Oliver Sunday May 21 Welcoming in Gemini season as the Gemini Moon squares Neptune giving us a zany entrance into the time of the twins, of excessive thinking, of cross pollination and deft humor. In the north we begin the ascent to the Solar peak of the year, and in the south we head towards the deepest darkest part of wintertime. Gemini is a time of extremes and a chance to learn from people how best to survive and thrive in this ever changing world.
