(S hemisphere below)Solstice speaks of the stillness found at this time of the year, the nourishing deep darkness that we need in the north right now, and the extended brilliance that is our medicine in the south. At the gateways into cardinal Capricorn and Cancer, the Sun sits still for three days. We also benefit from taking a pause now, letting the chips fall where they may, as we put the old year to bed, as this is the true New Years ingress. In the north where I am, every morning has thickly crunchy frost sparkling over everything. Sleep is long and deep, as the Sun sets so early and is equally late to rise. This is the time of the Great Grain, Mother Goddess giving birth to the Sun King, so effortlessly woven in with the Virgin Mother giving birth to the Son of God. Either way, how lucky we are. Coinciding with solstice this year we have Jupiter stepping from his time in Pisces, which completes his twelve year cycle, into Aries, thus making a square to the Sun into Capricorn. This is a big aspect that will ripple through our lives. The good is helpful generosity and support for changing belief systems. The challenge can be to not overdo it, and to not fall prey to excessive optimism followed by depression. Jupiter into Aries is the lighting of a torch, one we will be glad to have for the next five months. But remember that despite the burst of energy that Jupiter into cardinal fire brings, allow this solstice stillness to have you. ——————————— Monday December 19 Still waters run deep here at the bottom of the year. The Moon in Scorpio gives us many feels, but they are relatively grounded with the help of the earthy Cap planets.
