The Quickening of Spring & the Leo Full Moon
What does 2023 hold for you?

Imbolc is the dawning of spring in the north, meaning “in the belly”; referring to all the pregnant ewes. Soon come the baby lambs, the fresh new greening of the land, and the earliest movements signifying the beginning of the emergence from the frozen depths of winter. For us we can begin to imagine the sun’s warming rays filtering through the trees and tickling them into bloom, just as we have been internal for many months yet have gestated some new ideas for the coming season. This is a soft opening as we have months to go of cold and wet, but the ignition of the new year is found here. Honor this passage with many white & gold candles (beeswax or non scented best), snowdrops, tulips; all offerings to Saint Bridget.

Monday January 30
The week begins with an oxygenating Gemini Moon joining Mars, who is regaining normal speed. They make a trine to the Aquarius Sun whipping up conditions for energetic social exchanges of laughter and ideas. Mercury makes a trine to Uranus so those ideas may arrive on flashes of lightning, and help us decide what’s next.
Tuesday January 31
We dive into the rabbit hole today as the Gemini Moon squares Neptune, making things a little strange… watch for messages from dreams (sleeping or waking), or animal appearances you can use as divination. Give yourself a little extra time for things as it can play out like a mini Mercury retrograde.
Wednesday February 1
We wrap up the mental gymnastics of the Gemini Moon, who makes a stabilizing trine to Saturn on the way out, and the Moon then enters Cancer just after midday on the west coast.
We jump from “thinking” about our feelings to diving under the big incoming wave and going deep into all the feels today. It’s a tenderizing Moon ruled day. Let the tears fall should they appear.

Today is the cross-quarter day calmed Imbolc, or Candlemas, as is the midpoint between winter solstice & spring equinox. It is a span of days that signify the quickening of spring in the north. Appropriately, this is full-blown gothic Astro weather today as the Cancer Moon trines Venus in Pisces & the South Node in Scorpio. Desire & emotions are in charge, under a melancholic sky. It’s a good day for binging on old favorite love songs, and a poignant stroll down memory lane.

Anything under the surface makes itself felt today as the Cancer Moon opposes Mercury & then Pluto in Capricorn. This is the axis of family & work, asking us to be tuned in to what needs to be tended, shifted, or felt in a shadow work framework, for greater health of the clan.

Happy days are here again as the Leo Moon trines Jupiter in Aries. This is so much fun!
Take this weekend and get out there and play! Life is too short to get stuck in serious mode.
Sunday February 5
All hail the Full Moon in Leo! Combined with exalted Venus in Pisces, this is a very romantic, heartfelt full Moon. The square of Venus to Mars in Gemini at 11° adds some lusty & passionate flavor to this lunation. This is a lead up to Valentine’s Day Full Moon. Make it count!
